1st match between India Vs New Zealand was held in Napier(New Zealand).

1st innings summary

Toss was won by the home side and they decided to bat first. The openers of New Zeland team was M.Guptill and Munro.

Shami strikes his 100th odi wicket  by taking  the wicket  of  MJ Guptill in 2nd over. Guptill failed to score runs. He scored  only 5 runs.

In his next over, Shami went round the wicket to the left-hand batsman Munro and defeated a big drive with seam movement again.

At 18 for 2, the two best batsmen in the side, Ross Taylor and Williamson, were reduced to damage control when they would have wanted risk-free accumulation.

New Zealand was struggling to score runs. Captain KS Williamson and R Taylor trying to build partnership but the legspinner Y.Chahal sent off back to pavilion end to R Taylor.

At the end of 20 overs the score was 81 for 4. KS Williamson scored 64 runs off 81 balls and other players failed to score big runs. New Zealand was all out for 156 runs.

Wristspinner K.Yadav taken four wickets and M.Shami taken three wickets. India were finally happy to take the risk of playing both the wrist-spinners together.

2nd innings summary

The secound innings was started perfectly by New Zealand bowlers. They were bowling very well as Indian openers were struggling to score runs.

Rohit and Dhawan started very slow in low run chase. After playing 5 overs slowly S.Dhawan settled. He started to find some boundries and on other hand Rohit was failed to score runs as he was gone for 11 runs taken by Bracewell.

At No.3 the Captain Virat Kohli came and they both bat brilliently.

After the 10 overs the game was stopped due the sun. The sun is in the batsman’s eye from this end. The game was stopped for half an hour and 1 over was reduced. The target was 156 instead of 158.

Virat departs when India needed 40 runs to win. He scored 5 runs short for fifty. S.Dhawan scored his 26th odi fifty and was unbeaten on 75* runs off 103 balls.

India won by 8 wickets. Man of the match was given to M.Shami for 3 wickets 6 overs.

Series result: India led the 5-match series 1-0
